Purpose: To cast vision, lead, and own the Global Missions, Local Missions, and Women’s Ministries. Lead Heartland in living out the mission to share the love of Jesus with the Community and the world.
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Lead Global Missions - 20%
Must regularly lift or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds, using proper lifting techniques such as lifting or moving equipment or help from another staff member.
Working Conditions:
This position is eligible to request a hybrid work arrangement. Regular local and international travel is required.

Essential Responsibilities:
1. Lead Global Missions - 20%
- Cast overall vision for an increased and consistent experience in Global Missions removing barriers for interested participants.
- Work to fulfill the goal that everyone who calls Heartland their church home will go on a short-term mission trip at least once in their lifetime to experience the life-changing spiritual formation that can happen while on a trip.
- Lead Global Missions ministry and participate with planning, recruiting for events, and/or sharing transformation stories during services or on the Wall of Transformation.
- Plan for Missions events such as Global Missions Sunday, etc.
- Lead spiritual formation, exploratory, and partner care trips.
- Maintain and update a missions calendar.
- Interface and maintain relationships with global partner organizations and global partners.
- Meet with and provide relational investment to Global Partner to provide care and spiritual support.
- Maintain Heartland’s Global Missions social media presence.
- Manage the Missions software (currently Managed Missions) ensuring the trip details are accurately online and linked to the Heartland website.
- Coordinate payment for group travel/flights for participants (direct through United, American Airlines, or Delta).
- Review trip finances prior to each trip to ensure all participants fundraised their complete cost.
- Create and maintain a streamline system for trip leaders to follow.
- Engage and maintain relationships with Local Missions partners.
- Maintain the process to assess potential Local Missions Partner’s alignment with the HCC mission and shared objectives to determine eligibility for the Executive Team review and approval.
- Identify and equip volunteers to lead and serve with Local Partners.
- Strategize and maintain Local Missions social media presence.
- Execute regular events to teach about Local Missions opportunities.
- Provide leadership and direction to Local Missions Partners to host events at HCC.
- Provide leadership and direction for multiple volunteer teams.
- Lead and develop the Women’s Ministry, creating opportunities for women to grow spiritually, build meaningful relationships, and share the love of Jesus.
- Cultivate a sense of community, connection, and belonging by hosting quarterly women’s events.
- Identify and equip volunteers to lead and serve in the Ministry.
- Meet with and provide relational investment and leadership to volunteers, those that attend, and any interested in learning about the church.
- Provide spiritual guidance among guests, members, and volunteers.
- Participate in mandatory All Call events.
- Disciple and provide spiritual guidance among Staff members.
- Provide spiritual guidance and refer on to a local network of Christian Counseling Agencies.
- Open to being developed to perform sacerdotal duties, such as weddings, funerals, preaching/teaching, baptism, communion, hospital and wellness visits, prayer service, etc.
- Recruit, equip and lead volunteers to help lead the assigned volunteer teams and groups.
- Identify, foster, and develop leadership within the volunteer team, giving others an opportunity and platform to lead, while coaching them towards excellence.
- Share topics of concern and areas of opportunity with members of the Executive Team to consider and discern whether or not it needs to be addressed and timing.
- Collaborate together to brainstorm solutions to topics assigned by the Executive Team.
- Assess potential solutions and discern priorities for all ministry areas.
- Determine how to allocate resources and time to accomplish projects identified as priorities.
- Hold one another accountable in completing all projects that were deemed as a priority in the agreed timeline.
- Review ongoing issues for status updates, identify and solve current issues, and provide clarity on resolved issues as questions arise.
- Complete Ministry Area Reviews to share specific ministry area achievements, set future vision and goals, and request funding for the following year's budget to achieve priorities and goals.
- Bachelor’s Degree required or at minimum five years leading in Global or Local Ministry outside of Heartland Community Church.
- Ten years related experience with international service and development projects required.
- Prior experience in recruiting and empowering volunteer teams required.
- Good representative of Heartland Community Church.
- Satisfactory results on background check process.
- Member of Heartland Community Church within six months of hire.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. passport for international travel.
- Able to read, write, and follow verbal instructions in Standard English.
- Prioritize your own spiritual formation.
- Passionate about living out the Heartland Mission to Find, Follow and Share the love of Jesus by being Welcoming, Real and Transforming.
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with diverse populations and the ability to build and maintain strong and healthy relationships.
- Computer literate in Google suite required.
- Prefers working in a fast-paced, always-changing environment.
